Sizzling Summer News -- Hot Off the Grill!
The dog days of summer may seem like a slow time for some but at Pius XII Memorial Library, things are happening. Here are just a few of the new and exciting materials and services that debuted this past summer:
Pius has purchased several new online databases this summer.
Historical New York Times and Chicago Tribune by ProQuest offer full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.
Eighteenth Century Collections Online, or ECCO, according to Thomson Gale includes "138,000 English-language titles and editions (over 155,000 volumes) published between 1701 and 1800."
With The Times Digital Archive you can search through 100 years of the digital archive of The London Times. This database, also by Thomson Gale, includes all articles, illustrations, photographs, editorials, birth and death notices, and advertisements, which are all searchable.
International Directory of Company Histories by Thomson Gale provides company histories over time for U.S. and international companies.
A new scanner has been purchased to be used by faculty, staff, and students. It will be located in the reference department and should up and running by the fall semester
Reservations for the Knight’s Room can now be made online. A new streamlined process to book this frequently used room can be accessed at http://pius1.slu.edu/kr/month.php.
You can now receive personalized email alerts for new materials. By accessing “My Library Account” patrons create saved searches for desired subject areas and will be alerted by email when new materials appear in the Saint Louis University Libraries Catalog.
