This guide identifies resources for International Economics found primarily in the Reference Department of Pius XII Memorial Library. Call numbers pertain to locations within Pius XII Memorial Library. This guide is not comprehensive; rather it should be supplemented with several other guides for Pius Library such as International Business International Business, Bonds and Insurance.

INDEXING AND ABSTRACTING SERVICES


ABI/INFORM Complete.  1971-.  ProQuest.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily.  Indexes and abstracts more than 2,500 journals and trade publications in all areas of business and management, many with an international focus.  Full text is available for nearly 2,000 of the periodicals in page image (PDF) or text.  Examples of areas covered are accounting and taxation, banking and finance, economics, government, health care, human resources, labor relations, marketing, public administration, real estate, etc.

Lexis-Nexis Academic.  Web.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated continuously.  Covers news, business and legal information.  Excellent for news and company information. Includes full-text of the New York Times.

Business & Company Resource Center.  1980- .  Gale.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily except Sunday.  Formerly General Business File ASAP. Indexes approximately 1,000 business journals and trade/industry publications as well as 200,000 full-text company directory profiles and over 50,000 full-text investment reports.  Approximately half of the journals and trade/industry publications are full text. Also includes brief industry profiles, company histories, company financial statements, performance ratings, rankings, product and brand listings, and association listings.

Business Source Premier
     This database provides indexing and abstracting for 350 of the most important scholarly business journals "back to 1965 or the first published issue."  In addition, it includes indexing, abstracting, and full text for 1,103 peer-reviewed journals; 2,364 trade journals and general business magazines; 143 books; 1,217 country economic reports; 3,146 industry reports and yearbooks; and 528 market research reports.

EconLit.  1969- .  SilverPlatter. In-library and remote access.
     Updated monthly.  Produced by the American Economic Association, this is the major index for locating literature in economics.  It is the electronic equivalent of Journal of Economic Literature, Index of Economic Articles in Journals & Collections, and Cambridge University Press Abstracts of Working Papers in Economics.  Indexes worldwide literature on economics from books, working papers, collective volumes and more than 300 major economics journals.

PAIS International.  1972- .  Ovid. In-library and remote access.
     Updated monthly.  Produced by the Public Affairs Information Service, this database indexes and abstracts books, journal articles, conference proceedings, reports, pamphlets and government documents covering topics that are or may become the subject of legislation.  Subject areas include economic, political and social issues, public administration, law, business and political science.  More than 1,600 journals published worldwide in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish are selectively indexed each year.

The Wall Street Journal (Eastern edition).  1986-.  ProQuest.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily.  This U.S. newspaper "is the financial newspaper of record.  It offers in-depth coverage of national and international finance as well as first-rate coverage of hard news" (text from site).  Indexing, abstracting and full text are available from 1986 forward.  For 1958-1985 coverage, see The Wall Street Journal Index [Index Table 3], which contains an index and abstracts to all articles in the 3-Star Eastern Edition of The Wall Street Journal.

     Updated annually.  Produced by the World Bank, this database provides more than 500 time series for approximately 207 countries spanning various time periods from 1960 to 1998. Statistical series cover social, environment, economic, market and global indicators as well as population projections. This is a companion to World Development Indicators (Ref. HC 59.15 .W656).
