This guide identifies resources for International Marketing found primarily in the Reference Department of the Pius XII Memorial Library.  This guide is not comprehensive; rather it should be supplemented with several other guides for Pius Library such as International Business and International Finance.  Call numbers pertain to locations within Pius XII Memorial Library.
 
FINDING BOOKS USING LIBRARY CATALOG


Search the Saint Louis University Libraries Catalog, the SLU electronic library catalog, and MOBIUS, the Missouri Union Catalog, by author, title, keywords, author-title, subject, etc.  Use in the library or by remote access.  The Saint Louis University Libraries Catalog is available from the Saint Louis University Libraries Home Page.  Tip:  Always search Saint Louis University first.  If needed item(s) is/are not found, extend the search to MOBIUS.

Prepared each year by U.S. embassies assisted by U.S. government agencies, these reports focus on a country's commercial environment.  Also available through STAT-USA.  2004 guides are currently available.

Country Reports:  Human Rights

These "reports cover internationally recognized individual, civil, political, and worker rights, as set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."  (text from site 4/1/00) They are provided to Congress by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor of the U.S. Department of State. Archives are online from 1993-2001, however, the reports were abolished in 2002.

Complete title is Country Reports on Economic Policy and Trade Practices.  From the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs of the State Department, this site provides reports prepared for Congress to assist in drafting legislation about trade and economic policy.  They "provide a single, comparative analysis of the economic policies and trade practices of countries with which the United States has significant economic or trade relationships." ABI/INFORM Global Edition.  1971-  .  ProQuest.  In-library and remote access.
     Indexes and abstracts over 1,500 journals and trade publications in all areas of business and management, many with an international focus.  Full text is available for over 800 of the periodicals in ASCII full text, page image (PDF), and/or Bell & Howell's Text+Graphics format.  Examples of areas covered are accounting and taxation, banking and finance economics, government, health care, human resources, labor relations, marketing, public administration, real estate, etc.

Academic Search Premier. 1975- .  EBSCOhost.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily.  Indexes about 8,000 scholarly and general interest periodicals.  Subject coverage includes biological and medical sciences, chemistry, education, engineering, humanities, physics, psychology, religion & theology, sociology, and women's studies. The full text of articles from approximately 3,500 periodicals is available.

Business & Company Resource Center.  1980-  .  Gale.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily except Sunday.  Formerly General Business File ASAP.  Indexes approximately 1,000 business journals and trade/industry publications as well as 200,000 full-text company directory profiles and over 50,000 full-text investment reports.  Approximately half of the journals and trade/industry publications are full text.  Also includes brief industry profiles, company histories, company financial statements, performance ratings, rankings, product and brand listings, and association listings.

Business Periodicals Index.  1958-  .  Index Table 4.
     Updated monthly, with annual cumulations.  A print subject index to approximately 350 periodicals in all areas of business.

EconLit. 1969- .  SilverPlatter.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated monthly.  Produced by the American Economic Association this is the major index for locating literature in economics.  It is the electronic equivalent of Journal of Economic Literature, Index of Economic Articles in Journals & Collections, and Cambridge University Press Abstracts of Working Papers in Economics.  Indexes worldwide literature on economics from books, working papers, collective volumes, and more than 300 major economics journals.

LexisNexis Academic.  LexisNexis.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated continuously.  Covers news, business, and legal information.  Excellent for news and company information.

PAIS International 1972-  . Ovid.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated monthly.  Produced by the Public Affairs Information Service, this database indexes and abstracts books, journal articles, conference proceedings, reports, pamphlets, and government documents covering topics that are or may become the subject of legislation.  Subject areas include economic, political, and social issues, public administration, law, business, and political science.  Over 1,600 journals published worldwide in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish are selectively indexed each year.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch.  1989-  .  NewsBank.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily.  Access to archival articles back to 1989.  Go to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Web site for late-breaking news and articles available only on their Web site.  Another point of access for this newspaper is LexisNexis Academic . For articles between 1975 and 1987, use St. Louis Post-Dispatch Index (East Index Wall).

Wall Street Journal (Eastern edition).  1986-  .  ProQuest.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily.  This U.S. newspaper "is the financial newspaper of record.  It offers in-depth coverage of national and international finance as well as first rate coverage of hard news."  (Text from site)  Indexing, abstracting, and full text is available from 1986 forward.  For 1958 - 1985 coverage, see The Wall Street Journal Index below.
