Begin Your Research |
| TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE RESEARCH |
- Allow yourself plenty of time. You'll need several visits to the library to find
and collect resources.
- Be prepared for
obstacles. Books that are checked out, searches that don't work out,
and sources that aren't what you thought they'd be. These all
are part of the research process.
- Not everything
is on the Web. Books and articles found in the library can be
invaluable resources to help you write your paper.
- Keep track of
citations as you go along. Make sure they are complete. It
will save you time when compiling the bibliography for your paper.
- Research does
not always proceed in a straight line. You may run into dead
ends or your topic may take you in unexpected directions.
- Don't be afraid
to ask for help from your class's librarian or the librarians at the
reference desk.
