Food and Drink Policy

     
Pius Library’s Food and Drink Policy is an effort to make the Library an inviting and comfortable place for study and research, while maximizing the continuing value of the Library’s collections, equipment, and furnishings.  By promoting responsible user behavior, this policy attempts to achieve a balance between our users’ social needs and the need to preserve and protect our collections, furniture and other equipment

DRINK

  • Non- alcoholic beverages in bottles that can be re-closed (screw top) or other spill resistant containers, such as travel mugs and sports bottles, are permitted except in the areas specified below.
         
  • Beverages in cans, open containers, or cups without lids are not permitted.

FOOD

  • Food and snacks are permitted ONLY in the Café and in the tiled area between Circulation and the entrance to the Reference Computer area.
         
  • Food and drink of any kind are not permitted under any conditions in the following areas:
         
    • Computers
    • Printers, photocopiers and microform equipment
    • Library Book Stacks
    • Special Collections
    • Other areas posted as “NO FOOD OR DRINK”

PLEASE

  • Dispose of any food and drink-related trash before you leave
  • Report any spills that may occur to Library staff immediately
