The Technical Services Department of the library is
responsible for the acquisition of materials, the organization and bibliographic control
of materials, physical processing, and collection maintenance. At Pius Library the
department is divided into three units, Serials / Acquisitions, Catalog, and Automation.

The Catalog Unit, located on Level One, catalogs and processes materials in all languages and formats. Its goal is to ensure the integrity of the Library's catalog in order to make the collections maximally accessible to students, researchers, and the general public.

The Serials Unit, located on Level one handles the ordering and receipt of periodicals and newspapers received by Pius Library. There is also a service point on the Lower Level to assist patrons with finding Curriculum, media, current periodicals and microfilm material, which can be reached at 977-3110.

The Acquisitions Unit, located on Level One, orders and processes new
materials for the Library.
